Who Am I?

I live in North Cornwall where the dramatic coastline is hard to beat for its beauty.

I'm an Anglican priest, theologian and writer and The Hidden Mirror of La Porete is my first historical novel .

After studying for my PhD at Kings College London, I wrote my first book How Survivors of Abuse Relate to God based on my thesis (The Authentic Spirituality of the Annihilated Soul).

I went on to publish work in journals on practical theology. But after delving into Marguerite Porete's Mirror of Simple Souls for my research, I was left with a burning desire to make the mystic's story known to a wider audience.

Meanwhile I've kept my toe in the waters of theological education, teaching a session on the Book of Job several years running for the Oxford Theological Training course. In 2019 I gave the inaugural lecture for The Bible, Gender & Research Centre, Cliff College, Derbyshire.

To keep me sane through the years it has taken to transition into writing fiction, I've knitted countless pairs of socks for family and friends and kept an allotment with my husband Ian. Whilst growing our organic fruit and veg, I've spent the occasional sunny afternoon in my hammock.

My next novel will cover a subject closer to home: the story of my Dad's escape from Hungary as a teenager at the end of World War II.

In the meantime, I'll continue knitting, growing broccoli, and enjoying visits from our growing family (at the last count, 3 kids, 6 grandkids, I greatgrandchild with another on the way).
